WELCOME TO MERCER’S WORLD
"We all live in suspense, from day to day, from hour to hour; in other words, we are the hero of our story." - Mary McCarthy (1912-1989) American
There’s an old saying that goes something like this. “If you don’t know where you’ve been, you can’t know where you’re going.” And this brings me to my fascination with the past and all things historical that make me want to write about history as though I once lived it.
As I research my stories, I try putting myself in that era. What would I have done, who would I be? During medieval times would I have been a lowly peasant laboring in the fields, or the lady of the castle? In Charles Dickens England, would I be one of the rich, or a toothless scullery maid? I like to think that during the early twentieth century in America I would be a picket wielding suffragette fighting alongside those who brought about equality for women.
But most of all, I have to believe that throughout the ages, I would have quill or pen in hand, and authored wonderful stories like Shakespeare, Jane Austen, or even Louisa May Alcott.
Please immerse yourself into my world of historical fiction and enjoy. Who knows, maybe you will find where you have been.
